Committee Information

21 10 2009

Bellow are several of KMA’s committees. We encourage everyone to get involved with at least one committee, and we even welcome multi-committee participation. The committees serve as opportunities to participate and help provide further substance to the membership experience.

Philanthropy Committee: This committee will be responsible for planning and executing (with other member support) all philanthropy activities for the year. The first project we will be working on is Cobb Christmas. For this project we will be volunteering hours durning the “Night before Cobb Christmas” event, creating volunteer/donor brochures, implementing an annual event that will be held on Kennesaw’s campus, and working increase the number of toy donations from their last years numbers. This is a great opportunity to have fun, help less fortunate kids, and be creative. For more information you will want to contact Eric Southerland, he is the Philanthropy chair, at esouther@students.kennesaw.edu

Fundraising Committee: One of our most important efforts during the year is fundraising. This will be done through on campus activities as well as retaining corporate sponsorships. We need a fun group of people that will take responsibility of organizing and executing fundraising events throughout the year. We are looking to have 3-4 small ones per semester and 1 large event per semester. If you are interested in this you can either contact Whitley Cooper, VP, at wcooper7@students.kennesaw.edu or Jennifer Beech at the KMA email. Since we do not have a fundraising chair we are looking for people who can be self motivated. If there is anyone interested in filling the fundraising chair position please let us know.

Communication Committee: People dont know what they dont know….so, if we dont tell them they may never know. The communication committee will be responsible for creating ads/flyers for all events, keeping up our Facebook and linked in accounts, and maintaining the KMA bulletin board on the third floor of the BB. We will also be kicking of a KMA campaign where the sole purpose is to spread the word about KMA. If you are interested please contact Chris Roell, Communication chair, at chrisroell@gmail.com.

In the near future we will also push to form membership and professional development committees but for right now we would like to keep those as whole organization activities.

Marketing Week Preparations

22 09 2009

For those of you who do not know, Marketing Week is an annual week-long accumulation of various events hosted by KMA in order to promote the awareness of KMA, AMA, and Marketing.

As of right now, our plans for Marketing Week include:

  • Monday (October 5)
    • Membership Drive: We will be visiting classrooms throughout the day giving a short presentation on KMA and handing out information trying to drive membership for the rest of the year.  We will be going to both marketing classes as well as KSU 1101 classes.  (We will get the list of professors from Tyra)
    • Fundraiser: We will begin the week with our quick breakfast fundraiser.  Doughnuts will be picked up first thing in the morning to be sold around campus with either hot chocolate or coffee.  I am thinking hot chocolate because we wont need sugar and creamers, etc. Or we can do OJ, although it will be more expensive.
  • Tuesday (October 6)
    • Membership Drive: This will be our all day membership drive.  We will continue our classroom visits and we will also set up a table in the lobby of the Burruss Building as a central site to hand out information about KMA.  At the table we will also be giving out free baked goods (we will need to come up with a list of who is baking what)
  • Wednesday (October 7)
    • On Campus Main Event: This is our Buckle event.  We are planning to have it start at 4:00pm and last for approx. 1 hour.  It will begin with a lecture on self branding and quick interview tips and wrap up with a business dress fashion show.  The location is in the Leadership room at the Student Center.
  • Thursday (October 8 )
    • Fundraiser:Our end of week wrap up fundraiser will be a cook out on the green. We need to discuss exactly what will be prepared and served as well as prices. We will also turn this into a KMA awareness drive with activities on the green.  Our first choice is to set up a screen on the green however I know KAB is doing their Screen on the Green event that night so I am not sure how that will work out.  If that is not possible then we will come up with a secondary activity, like KSU dodgeball or something.
  • Friday (October 9)
    • Week-end wrap up: This is our opportunity to let loose and have a little fun with the members of KMA.  From our discussion at the last meeting it seemed like everyone wanted to go to US Play and do an event there.  I will work on gathering pricing and schedules, etc to make this happen.

If you are interested in helping out and participating during Marketing Week, then please feel free to email KMA at KennesawMarketing@gmail.com. We need volunteer’s for each and every activity, and we require maximum participation in order to make it a success. Also, for more information regarding KMA and Marketing Week, our next meeting is Wednesday at 5:00pm in the BB Sales Center.

KMA Guest Speaker

2 09 2009

On Wednesday September 2nd 2009, KMA hosted Patrick West and Kevin Ware as they discussed AMA Atlanta, and how the organization can benefit our future career growth. Feel free to view the video of the event below. Some of the audio is slightly messed up near the end, but it should still be relatively audible.
